The first day of the OBX Skim Jam was heated both in the water and on the beach. Waves were small but really clean as the tide filled in throughout the day. The Zap tent was packed all day with the hot weather. But the water was the only real cool spot in OBX today. We had some new posters and Zap goodies to give out to the kids who won some fun beach games. The new Ace demo boards were out most of the day with new riders testing them out. With the 200 competitors the contest ran almost till dark making it the largest skim event yet in the Outer Banks.
The Zap team did very well today too making the best of the small conditions. Men’s pro riders Max Smett, John Akerman, and Dave Scott advanced to the semi-finals. Pro women’s rider Casey Kiernan took first in here first professional heat moving forward to the finals tomorrow. Congrats to all AM riders who advanced through their heats today, Sam McCoy, Jacob Capps, Ed Hayden, Helen Holt, Casey Ritzer, and Joe Ryce. All in all it was a great day. Hope too see everyone again for another fun beach day tomorrow. Check out some photos from todays event below!
