The first day of the South Side Shootout did not have the best wave conditions but still turned out good. The past few years conditions have been really fun so I guess we were due for bad contest. The morning started of with some clean ones with team rider Chris Brown easing his way through his heat with tons of style.

Around 10am right when the Pro’s started the wind picked up and the condition went from ok to not good at all. First round team riders Dave Scott, Emanuel Embaixador, Dan McDonald, Derek Shenton all advanced to the quarters. Everyone skimmed really good in quarter but the heats were stacked. Rider Dave Scott advanced to the semi-finals tomorrow.
After the Pro’s conditions started to get better with the incoming tide. AM riders Chris Brown, Sam McCoy, Casey Ritzer, Patrick Monigle, and Ed Hayden all ripped and advanced to Day 2 of the shootout. Check back tomorrow for final results and more photos!
