TRICKS & TIPS | How to Catch a “Sider” Wave with Leo Freitas

    Video: @devindmedia

There’s tons of different styles of waves when it comes to skimboarding. One of the coolest types of waves, and unfortunately one of the hardest to figure out, is the “sider” wave. But first, what is a “sider” wave anyway?

A “sider” wave is formed when the wash from a set wave bounces off a rock formation, or something similar, to create a wave that pushes from the side and usually forms into a bigger wave at its peak. Think about all those clips from Cabo and you’ll know what we’re talking about.

Alright, so you know what a “sider” is now but how do you catch one? Check out the video above as team rider Leo Freitas gives you a few tips & tricks that help him catch the siders!
