Jason Wilson chats with longtime board builder Steve Boomhower to go over different materials and board lamination schedules. There is so much that goes into each board that we make. So if you want a deep dive into our board tech, this is the video for you! Check out a quick overview of our board material types below:
Composilite
- This tried-and-true molded construction process is very durable and used in our entry level skimboards. This is an exclusive build technology created by Zap in the USA.
E-Glass
- This construction process incorporates multi-layers of high density woven E-Glass combined with a Carbon Stringer that is used in Zap’s VRT build technology. It is strong and built to last.
Carbon Fiber
- A classic carbon fiber weave that is lightweight and rigid for high performance riding.
Gator Skin
- Our GatorSkin Super Tuff glass incorporates Carbon/Aramid fibers. It is lightweight and makes a very fast/stiff board for those demanding the best performance.
Hybrid Carbon
- Hybrid Carbon glass is a glass weave that incorporates Carbon/Innegra fibers. It is lightweight and makes a very fast/stiff board for those demanding the best performance.
