Day one of the The Zap Amateur World Championships was like no other skim contest before. The weather was perfect and the waves were glassy but a bit on the smaller side. This event grows each year and this one is by far the largest with more then just skimboarding entertainment. In between the heats the crowd was entertained by a fun circus crew that was talented in many different ways. It was very entertaining to say the least. Zap AM standouts were Patrick Monigle who found the best wraps in his heat, Roman Hager charging on waves much larger then him, Sam McCoy going big as usual, and Kelmar, our Costa Rican rider who proved he has what it takes to hang with the Americans! It was an epic first day and we are more then excited to see what Day 2 has to offer. Check out the photos from today below.
