2023 Zap World Championships: Day 2

Day 2 of the Zap World Championships of Skimboarding was an off day for the professional divisions which gave the amateur divisions a real chance to shine, and shine they did. The day began with the mini division. Yes, the division that closed out day 1 around 8 pm which gave the competitors little time to recover. Lucky for them, they’re young enough that they don’t really get tired. Jokes aside, young Gio Tomasi led the pack yet again with his powerful skimming and tech maneuvers. We seriously can’t wait to see what this kid does in the years to come! The rest of the morning was filled with rippers in the Menehune, Girls, Jr. Women, and Boys divisions. The future is definitely looking bright with this awesome crop of young talent on the come up. Once the younger riders wrapped, the Zap team showed out in the Men’s division with riders Dylan Duncan, ET Beaugrand, and Nico Traykovski. All three riders laid down some sick lines but it was Dylan and ET who were able to make it through to the final round during day 3.

After the lunch break, the Masters division took to the water where team rider Kaleb Perkins took the win in his heat with ease which advanced him into the finals tomorrow. The Grandmasters division was up next where team rider Drew Fusco shredded his way into the final tomorrow as well. After that, the Semi-Pro heats got underway with riders Dylan Duncan, ET Beaugrand, Drew Fusco, and Nico Traykovski representing. The level of riding was high and the team did not disappoint. Dylan and Nico were able to outdo the competition and make it to another round later in the day. The Senior Grandmasters were up next where Chip Sanders had some awesome rides that secured him a spot in the final round. We had the Legends up next which got everyone hyped because being able to go out shred and have fun is what skimming is all about! Semi-Pro jumped back out there afterwards for the quarterfinal round where Dylan and Nico kept their heads in the game and put themselves into the semifinal round. All in all, it was another rad day out on the water and we’re stoked to finish it up tomorrow!
