The 2024 Zap World Championships kicked off today in Dewey Beach, Delaware with blustery conditions. Tropical storm Debbie brought 30+ MPH sustained winds which caused tricky conditions for all the competitors. Luckily, we skipped out on the rain and were able to stay on schedule for the day.
Despite the conditions, vibes were high in anticipation for one of the best competitions of the year. It was day full of Amateur heats and you would have thought the Pro’s were competing from time to time. Some standouts from the day from the ZAP team were Graham Shelton, ET Beaugrand, Trent Moranda, Brody Chandler-Thompson, and Giorgio Tomasi! All these riders made it through their preliminary heats and will be competing this weekend.
Looking forward to tomorrow, we are going to kick off the action in the morning with 3 rounds of Professional Heats. There will be two rounds for the Men and one round for the Women. It’s the biggest turnout yet this year with 34 Professional Men and 8 Professional Women. Many different countries are represented and it should be a great show with better conditions in the forecast tomorrow.
Following all the action tomorrow, we want to remind everyone about the Art of Skim that will take place at Ivy from 6PM-10PM. You will not want to miss out on some great art pieces to raise money for Skim USA.
