The first stop of the European Skimboard Tour took place at Lagoa de Albufeira Beach in Sesimbra, Portugal. The event brought together more than 50 athletes from different nationalities and was blessed with excellent wave conditions throughout the competition.
In the premier men’s division, Mexico’s Yahir Valencia (ZAP) confirmed his status as the overwhelming favorite, dominating the final with a combined score of 15.73 points and taking home the largest share of the prize money. Spain’s talented Juanlu Gonzalez finished in second place with 12.84 points.
The professional women’s division showcased an impressive level of technical performance. Matilde Antunes emerged as the event champion with a score of 9.00 points, closely followed by ZAP rider Francisca “Kika” Freire, who secured second place with 8.17 points.
The younger generation put on a spectacular show in the waves of Lagoa de Albufeira. With an all-Portuguese podium, João Oliveira claimed the title after posting 12.14 points in the final. Close behind, demonstrating the strength of local talent development, local rider Francisco Silva Polido (ZAP) finished in second place with 9.00 points.
Throughout the event, competitors and spectators enjoyed a beach barbecue and DJ set at the ZAP tent, creating a great atmosphere both in and out of the water.
To conclude the event, special awards presented by Hammer Traction were given to the Breakthrough Rider of the Event, João Oliveira, and to the youngest competitor in the contest, Zion, who at just 7 years old impressed everyone with his participation.
The event was organized by Surf Clube de Sesimbra and the Euro Skim Tour, with the support of ZAP Skimboards and Hammer Traction.
