With more style than should be legal at his age, Gio Tomasi (aka @SkimGio) is a true Florida kid! He basically lives at the beach and with those dreads of his, he’s definitely bringing plenty of sand back with him when he leaves. We know this kid has a bright future and we are stoked to watch him grow and mature on the board. We caught up with him to see what’s been going on and what he has planned for 2026. ZAP: Yo Gio! What’s going on?!
Gio: Hey! I’m just living my best life. Going to the beach, skimming and fishing as much as possible.
ZAP: How is 2026 treating you so far?
Gio: It’s been great so far! Contests have been going well and I’m feeling good on the board.
ZAP: What are your plans for the rest of the 2026 season?
Gio: I plan to do as many comps as I am able to. I definitely want to finish out the Skim USA tour and get into other events!
ZAP: Do you have any sick trips coming up? Tell us about them!
Gio: I’m looking forward to going to the World Championship in Dewey Beach, Delaware,and the Naval jetty up there, which should be fun. And hopefully I can sneak in a Cali trip!
ZAP: For being such a young skimmer, you’ve really started to develop an awesome style already. Which riders out there do you get your inspiration from?
Gio: Thank you! My main three are Gerardo Valencia, Mason Broussard, and Lucas Fink!
ZAP: If you’re not skimming, what can we find you up to? Fishing?!
Gio: Yep! Freshwater and saltwater. If they’re biting, I’m there!
ZAP: What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught so far?
Gio: So far, a 32" Snook!
