Arguably the most entertaining skimboarder these days, Yahir Valencia is an absolute beast on the water. Hence why his new pro model was dubbed the BEAST! With some of the longest slideouts to waves ever witnessed and power and style to make everything look sick, Yahir is always turning heads when he’s on the water. His 2025 season was filled with awesome trips and top podium finishes. From becoming the 2025 Euro Champ and awesome trips to places like Dubai and beyond, 2025 was killer for Yahir. So much so, we have crowned him the Zap International Rider of the Year! Check it with him below.
ZAP: Yahir, congrats on an epic 2025 season and being named the Zap International Rider of the Year! How does it make you feel?
Yahir: It's incredible to see how many people look at me that way and admire my hard work and dedication to this sport…thank you, everyone!
ZAP: We were bummed you couldn’t make it to Spring Fling to celebrate properly. Otherwise, how have things been going for you?
Yahir: I'm doing very well here, I've been competing here in Mexico, I miss being in the USA a lot but I'm doing my best to come back. It’s been difficult navigating the visa process and all that but we’ll get there!
ZAP: What were a few of your favorite moments from 2025?
Yahir: My best moments of 2025 were when I was competing on the European tour and became European champion. Another magnificent moment was when I went to Dubai with Zap to give an exhibition, something I will never forget and will always cherish. Dubai has such a different vibe than I’m used to so it was really cool being there.
ZAP: What are your plans for 2026?
Yahir: My plans for 2026 are to go back to Europe, become European champion in 2026, return to Mexico, and continue training! The grind is real!
ZAP: Is there anyone you’d like to thank or anything else you’d like to say?
Yahir: I just want to thank Zap Skimboards, all those people who have always supported me on this journey, my family, and the life I'm living.
