RECAP | Shore LB Throwdown Day 2 & Podiums

Words: Sydney Pizza // Media: @devindmedia

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! A great morning on the East Coast of Florida, with less wind, warmer weather, better reforms, and sunnier skies, Team Zap was ready for finals day! Starting off the day with about 7 mph winds coming from the North, and about 60- degree weather, to get all the way up to 74 degrees and sunny, it was looking like a great day!

Starting off the day strong we got straight into the Pro Men. Watching ET Beaugrand face-off against Jack Tenney, and Mason Broussard against Sterling Myers for spots in the final. Giving it their all in fickle conditions, Mason teched his way to the final throwing massive spray, late frontside big spins, finding some heavy wraps, and a whitewash cover up or two. ET also giving his best with backside floaters, liners to 3-shuvs and finding some driving lines to mini cover ups, landing himself in his best ever professional placing, a very well earned 3rd place! Mason in the final with Jack, working with growingly windier conditions, found opportunities for airs, 3-shuv re-entries, and some nice style, worked his way to a 2nd place finish. Our top 6 Pros were Mason in 2nd , ET in 3rd , and Gerardo in 5th , very well done guys! Moving straight into the Pro Women, Nicole Phillips and Sydney Pizza made the best of challenging and chunky conditions, putting extra umph into their turns, 3-shuvs with effortless steeze Nicole got the win over Syd, and we are loving watching this patch up grow and evolve! Great job ladies!

Getting right into the rest of the day, the Masters division came out with a bang as Anthony McFall and Evan Rubin dominated their heats making it to the final, with solid wave rides, 3-shuvs, big spins, and backside 180s, Ant and Evan killed it this weekend finishing in 2 nd and 1 st place respectively! Way to go guys! Next up was the Semi-Pros where one of our newest Zap Family members, Dylan Dubrow, was our lone standing ripper and dominated his way to the finals to snag himself a 4th place finish! Dylan made every wave he took look effortless, with tech on the way to the wave, back in and on the lip. He also had one of the best floaters of the weekend, way to go Dylan!

After that the Men, Jr. Men, Women, Jr. Women, Sr GrandMasters, and Legends took to the water leaving us with nothing but finals for the rest of the day. Brody Chandler- Thompson and Gio Tomasi both had great days in their breakout contest as now a part of the Boys division. The final was on and we watching Gio get a super sick liner to air drop that scored big, as Brody was one with the liners finding the pocket and rocking floaters, wraps to shuv-its and 360 spins, and the most stylish wave of the heat as he went down the line and stood straight up down the line! The boys killed it, bringing home a 1st place win for Brody and a 2nd place finish for Gio, a great start to the year!

We are super stoked for the team and can’t wait to watch everyone flourish as the season progresses! For full results, click here: https://liveheats.com/events/456305
