The 2026 Melaque Skim Contest took place this last weekend and just like in year’s past, it was a great event filled with tons of talent and good vibes! Originally a part of the United Skim Tour’s event schedule, the UST decided to un-sanction the event due to safety concerns. However, that didn’t put a damper on the event.

EVENT | UST Backs Out Of Melaque Skim Contest This Weekend
This weekend, the Melaque Skim Contest is happening in Melaque, Mexico. Originally planned to be a part of the United Skim Tour, unfortunately the situation in Mexico with the cartels and government has forced the UST to un-sanction the event due to safety concerns. The event is still happening as scheduled, however, results will not be factored into the overall United Skim Tour rankings.

RECAP | Shore LB Throwdown Day 2 & Podiums
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! A great morning on the East Coast of Florida, with less wind, warmer weather, better reforms, and sunnier skies, Team Zap was ready for finals day! Starting off the day with about 7 mph winds coming from the North, and about 60- degree weather, to get all the way up to 74 degrees and sunny, it was looking like a great day! RECAP | Shore LB Throwdown Day 1
Now we’re really back! Kicking things into high gear, we are down in Sebastian Florida for the 2026 ShoreLB Throwdown with a solid crew, including hometown heroes, new additions and foreign favorites! On a brisk Saturday morning at Sebastian’s Inlet, we got a bright an early start to the weekend, at 8am in about 55-degree weather with hopefully promising and exciting conditions.

There's a lot of moving pieces when it comes to skimming, and in each part of the process, whether you are a beginner or top of the line professional, there is always something to improve upon, and something to think about. Making sure that you remember all the little things, like where to put your feet, while making sure the big pieces, like when to turn on the wave, can be challenging and sometimes too much at once, until you build muscle memory.
